summertime

mixed media mosaic

I wanted to play on the idea of the seasonality of time; how we refer to ‘spring time’ or ‘summer time’, yet in reality there is there no consistency from year to year. My mosaic represents ‘summertime’ with a pictorial representation of flowers that bloom in the late summer; each using a watch face as its centre point. My favourite flowers at that time of year, as we head to autumn are rudbeckias and daisy-headed flowers.

The essence of ‘time’ is also played upon, not only by incorporating a variety of watch faces into the mosaic, but also through my use of recycled materials. Much of the tessarae are made from cups and plates, which have been used time and time again.

Previously on show at Perth Theatre, as part of the Encounters with Time exhibition.
